Abstract

«Rimpiazzare l’onore perduto»: figlie, genitori e sessualità nella società romena (XVIII secolo)

Sedurre ed essere sedotti sono parte di un gioco in cui la corte, la galanteria, i sentimenti, le parole, i gesti costruiscono delle pratiche sociali. Il nostro studio analizza queste pratiche attraverso gli archivi giudiziari prodotti da un tribunale ecclesiastico nel corso del XVIII secolo. L’attenzione è focalizzata sul posto occupato dalle figlie entro la famiglia e sulle strategie tessute attorno a una situazione di crisi: la deflorazione. Far sposare una figlia non vergine si rivela un’avventura complessa, mentre rappezzare l’onore perduto pare una soluzione più praticabile e preferibile per la maggior parte degli attori sociali che si presentavano dinnanzi alla giustizia.

«Replacing the Honour Lost»: Daughters, Parents and Sexuality in the Romanian Society (18th Century)

Seduce and being seduced are part of a game in which gallantry, court, emotions, words and gestures built the social practices. Our study analyses these practices across the judicial archives generated by the ecclesiastical tribunal during the 18th century. We are interested in the place of the girls inside the family and in all the strategies which were developed in a situation of crisis: dishonour suffered by a deflowered girl. Having a deflowered daughter married was a difficult process, while patching up lost honour was a viable and preferable solution for the majority of the social actors appealing to justice.
