L’interscambio demografico dei borghi delle Cinque Terre osservato attraverso i cognomi

Il sistema cognominale dei borghi delle Cinque Terre è stato utilizzato per evidenziare sia le peculiarità dei singoli borghi, sia il livello di interscambio demografico tra i borghi stessi e con i borghi limitrofi. Considerando quel territorio in un contesto più ampio troviamo che i cinque borghi si posizionano in due raggruppamenti distinti: i borghi più a ponente mostrano una maggiore dinamicità, con maggiori scambi e migliore integrazione col il territorio circostante, viceversa quelli più a levante appaiono più isolati. Dal confronto tra i cognomi recenti e quelli dei secoli passati è emerso che, nonostante i radicali cambiamenti avvenuti a partire dalla seconda metà del XIX, il legame con il passato è notevole e, soprattutto nei borghi a levante, ci sono gruppi parentali del XVII secolo che sono ancora prevalenti alla fine del XX. I cognomi che possiamo definire autoctoni sono una buona percentuale così come c’è una buona presenza di cognomi radicati in Liguria, ma la connessione di antica data con alcune regioni del nord, soprattutto la Lombardia, ha una certa rilevanza.

The demographic exchange of the villages of the Cinque Terre observed through surnames

The surname system of the Cinque Terre villages has been used to highlight both the specific characteristics of each village and the degree of demographic exchange between the villages themselves and with neighbouring villages. Considering that area as part of a larger domain, we find that the five villages are grouped into two distinct clusters. The villages to the west show more dynamism, with more exchanges and better integration with the surrounding area, whereas those to the east appear more isolated. Comparison of recent surnames with those of past centuries showed that, despite the radical changes since the second half of the 19th century, the link with the past is remarkable and, especially in the eastern villages, there are parental groups from the 17th century that are still prevalent at the end of the 20th century. The surnames that we can identify as autochthonous are a relevant percentage as well as there is an important presence of surnames with large occurrence in Liguria, but the ancient connection with some northern regions, especially Lombardy, is also evident.
