Aspetti del rapporto tra città e suburbio attraverso le Anagrafi venete (1766-1795)

Le Anagrafi venete si configurano come una grandiosa opera di rilevazione statistica, estesa a tutto il territorio della Serenissima tra il 1766 e il 1795. La fonte comprende un ampio spettro di informazioni che la rendono uno strumento prezioso e insostituibile per la ricerca storica.
Con il mio lavoro intendo innanzi tutto illustrare le caratteristiche più significative, i principali contenuti e gli scopi più evidenti delle Anagrafi venete, quindi indicare le modalità di utilizzo dei dati in alcuni studi particolarmente significativi. Mi propongo infine di esaminare un aspetto specifico di ricerca: la città e gli spazi periferici. In particolare, utilizzando alcuni dati delle Anagrafi venete intendo tracciare un quadro della situazione demografica, sociale ed economica della popolazione delle realtà urbane di Verona, Vicenza e Padova e dei loro circondari nell’intento di cogliere il rapporto tra le città ed i loro suburbi e per evidenziare le principali caratteristiche ed eventuali analogie o differenze

Aspects of the relationship between cities and suburbs according to the Venetian Registries (1766-1795)

The Venetian Registries (Anagrafi venete) are a magnificent statistical work. They covered the entire region of the Serenissima from 1766 to 1795. These Anagrafi include a broad range of information which makes them a valuable and irreplaceable tool for historical research. I have devoted my research efforts firstly in outlining the Registries characteristics and purposes, and then in exploring how the data is used in some particularly significant studies. Finally, I have focused my research on a specific aspect: the city and its outlying areas. In particular, the second part of this work draws a picture of the demographic, social and economic conditions of the urban population of Verona, Vicenza, Padua and their outlying areas, using some data from the Venetian Registries, in order to understand the relationship between cities and their suburbs and to highlight their main features and their similarities or differences.
